02.120.0213 Top of wall bracing

This detail shows angle bracing for a concrete masonry wall, anchor the top of the wall to the structure above for instances where the masonry is terminated at or above the finish ceiling. The location of the connection plate varies depending on whether the structure is parallel or perpendicular to the wall. The masonry is grouted and reinforced vertically and horizontally at designed intervals, and the top course is a bond beam with studded plates embedded in the grout and welded to the angle braces. Angle braces have a minimum slope of 3 to 4, and a maximum slope of 2 to 1. This detail as shown is intended to illustrate a general concept or method of construction.
