02.120.0227 Wall restraint at perpendicular steel beam

This detail shows the top of wall restraints where a structural steel beam perpendicular to the wall falls below the corrugated decking. Angles on both sides of the wall are either bolted or welded to the bottom flange of the beam. 2 hour fire rated wall construction spans between the top of masonry and the decking above, between perpendicular beams. Firestop material fills all voids above the masonry. Steel angle restraints are secured to the masonry with self tapping screws. The top of the masonry is held back about 1 1/2" from the beam above. This detail as shown is intended to illustrate a general concept or method of construction.
