01.120.0207 Conrol joint details

This set of details shows different options for accommodating shrinkage, the primary form of movement in a concrete masonry wall, by the use of control joints (CJs) in the wall. The details represent options for fire-rated and non fire-rated CJs, laterally restrained and unrestrained CJs, and CJs in-plane and at intersecting walls. Horizontal and vertical grout and reinforcement in the CMU are sized and spaced at intervals per structural design. Control joints are spaced at intervals per design. This detail shall not be used for construction without the approval an signature of a licensed design professional. The person using this detail shall be responsible for its complete design and proper application.

     04.030.0202 Dimension stone wall, interior | Wire ties and molding plaster This detail shows 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick dimension stone anchored to an interior wall substrate with anchors of 8-gauge  (0.1285”) copper or stainless steel wire ties encapsulated by molding plaster at the perimeter of each stone panel. The wire is fitted into slightly oversized holes in edges of the stone panels, with wood plugs filling the space around the wire. The wire anchors are sized and spaced per empirical design and are fastened to the concrete masonry backing via holes cut into the block, also filled with plaster or rapid-curing cementitious material. Joints between the panels may be finished with compatible sealant and backer rod (not shown for clarity).
