02.120.0206 Control joint | Horizontal reinforcement options

This detail shows two options for horizontally reinforcing a control joint (CJ) in a concrete masonry wall: continuous horizontal reinforcement across the control joint, and horizontal reinforcement interrupted at the control joint. In both cases, the vertical mortar joint is raked back 1/2" at the CJ for backer rod and sealant. Horizontal and vertical grout and reinforcement are sized and spaced at intervals per structural design. This detail shall not be used for construction without the approval an signature of a licensed design professional. The person using this detail shall be responsible for its complete design and proper application.
