02.120.0229 Steel beam under concrete masonry wall

This detail shows a reinforced masonry wall bearing on a suspended slab with a steel beam directly underneath with hooked dowels in alternating directions into the slab. When the flutes of the decking do not line up with the beam below, engineer must verify hooked dowels can be developed into the slab. Concrete masonry wall is grouted and reinforced vertically and horizontally at intervals per design. This detail as shown is intended to illustrate a general concept or method of construction. This detail shows accommodations for a top-of-wall grout pour. Grout is poured into the top course bond beam via a grout bag or funnel through 6" x 6" holes cut into the corrugated decking every 6" on center. Midway between the pour holes are 4" dia. inspection holes to verify grout placement and flow. The concrete masonry wall is secured to the suspende slab above with angles on both sides of the wall welded to a steel plate, which is anchored to the bottom of the flutes of the decking above. The angles are secured to the masonry with self tapping screws. The top of the masonry is held back about 1 1/2" from the plate above.
