04.130.0203 Stone floor | Unbonded mortar bed over concrete substrate

 

This detail shows 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick dimension stone on an unbonded mortar bed over a concrete substrate. The mortar setting bed is separated from the concrete with a cleavage membrane to allow the stone assembly to move independent of the structure. The stone is typically fresh-set (i.e. the mortar bed is still workable) and adhered to the mortar with a cementitious bond coat; alternatively, the mortar bed may be allowed to cure before adhering the stone. Optional compatible waterproof membrane (not shown) may be applied over the mortar bed if it is cured. The mortar bed is reinforced with a 2" x 2" galvanized wire mesh. Expansion joints in the floor assembly must be provided at locations shown by the design professional. This detail is based on Natural Stone Institute's exterior stone paving detail, Full Mortar Bed with Membrane and Expansion Joint. 02.120.0215 Grout pour at top of concrete masonry wall

This detail shows accommodations for a top-of-wall grout pour. Grout is poured into the top course bond beam via a grout bag or funnel through 6" x 6" holes cut into the corrugated decking every 6" on center. Midway between the pour holes are 4" dia. inspection holes to verify grout placement and flow. The concrete masonry wall is secured to the suspende slab above with angles on both sides of the wall welded to a steel plate, which is anchored to the bottom of the flutes of the decking above. The angles are secured to the masonry with self tapping screws. The top of the masonry is held back about 1 1/2" from the plate above. 01.070.0301 Base of Wall | Adhered Brick Veneer, CMU Backing, Lath & Scratch Coat This detail illustrates a base of wall condition for adhered brick veneer over concrete masonry (CMU) backing. A continuous air/moisture/vapor barrier (WRB) over the CMU includes a transition membrane at the control joint, and provides resistance to air and moisture. Continuous insulation provides thermal control to supplement the natural thermal mass of the masonry backing. Used as a rainscreen device, the drainage mat with protective filter fabric allows moisture to escape the wall via the corrosion resistant perforated weep screed at the horizontal termination. The WRB is applied over the weep screed in shingle fashion. A self-furring lath embedded in a scratch coat of mortar reinforces the veneer system. The veneer is adhered to the reinforced scratch coat with a bond coat of polymer modified mortar. The joints between the units may be pointed in using a masonry mortar.
