This detail shows 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick dimension stone adhered to cementitious backer units (CBU) over a wood substrate with a cementitious bond coat. The CBU underlayment is adhered and mechanically fastened to the plywood subfloor. Expansion joints in the floor assembly must be provided at locations shown by the design professional. This detail is based on Natural Stone Institute's interior stone paving detail, Thin Bed Mortar Over Typical Cementitious Backer Unit. Details that show different or modified concepts or methods can be of equal validity and should not be excluded from consideration. This detail shall not be used for construction without the approval an signature of a licensed design professional. The person using this detail shall be responsible for its complete design and proper application.

     04.030.0202 Dimension stone wall, interior | Wire ties and molding plaster This detail shows 2 cm (3/4 in.) thick dimension stone anchored to an interior wall substrate with anchors of 8-gauge  (0.1285”) copper or stainless steel wire ties encapsulated by molding plaster at the perimeter of each stone panel. The wire is fitted into slightly oversized holes in edges of the stone panels, with wood plugs filling the space around the wire. The wire anchors are sized and spaced per empirical design and are fastened to the concrete masonry backing via holes cut into the block, also filled with plaster or rapid-curing cementitious material. Joints between the panels may be finished with compatible sealant and backer rod (not shown for clarity).
